For eight days, Pordenone becomes an international center for silent cinema. Le Giornate del Cinema Muto brings restorations, rediscoveries and retrospectives to the Teatro Verdi, with films accompanied by live music and intertitles translated into Italian or English. The 45th edition opens with Douglas Fairbanks in Don Q Son of Zorro, while the principal retrospective turns to uncensored Weimar cinema of 1919–1920. Screenings continue through most of each day, alongside talks, book presentations and archival programming.
